Rome trip February 28th

We will be having the Pilgrimage to Rome on Wednesday February 28. The pilgrimage includes the general audience with the Pope and a tour of St Peter’s. It is free, and well worth it. The only thing you have to take care of is your train ticket to Rome and lunch. Br. Allan is going to visit a few restaurants and work out a good deal for all the students. He needs to know if you are coming by Wednesday February 21st so he can get all the tickets and make reservations. Be sure to email him at awirfel@legionaries.org for meeting places and further information.

Specific Event Dates

First and foremost, let me apologize for the time it took me to post these dates. I've been extremely busy with school and work, and I haven't had enough time to post them.

For all of you who went on the Pilgrimage to Rome yesterday, I hope you had a wonderful time. As pictures come in, I will post them so they can be easily shared.

Here are some tentative dates and/or general information for events scheduled for the remainder of the semester:

  • March 14th Basketball Tournament

  • March 14th Cineform:A movie and discussion with pizza after the basketball tournament.

  • April 28th Pilgrimage to Assisi

"Cineform," "Theology on tap," "Bible on Beer," "Gospel on Rye," "Banjo and the Bible," "Spirits on Spirituality"...whatever you want to call it, this is what it is. It's a casual discussion, question and answer on our faith, upon announcement after mass, as not all fathers have time to do it every week.

Would your university be willing to open their doors for a movie, or for us to use your gym? If any universities out there are able to help, please email Br. Allan at awirfel@legionaries.org

This year's coming events in florence (some rough ideas)

Welcome to Brother Allan's Blog about activities for Catholic College Students studying abroad in Florence. Here's a rough outline of some of the activities that are planned for this coming 2007 spring semester:

1. Theology on Tap: After the Saturday evening Mass when Fr Joseph and I are in town.

2. Pilgrimage to Rome: Audience with the Pope, lunch, tour of St Peter’s.

3. Pilgrimage to Assisi: Tour of Assisi, lunch, Mass and a talk on some aspect of how to live as a Christian today.

4. Basketball Tournament: Tournament in the morning, lunch, and a talk on what it means to be a Christian man.

5. Cine forum: Movie, pizza and discussion on the ethical or controversial aspects of the movie.

6. Scavi Tour: This is the best tour of St Peter’s possible; it visits the archaeological digs under St. Peter’s down to where St. Peter’s bones where discovered. It is very difficult to get tickets; we need a definite number to go and plenty of time in advance to request the tickets.

Specific dates will be added throughout the semester, so be sure to check back here later for the full details! Thank you for your interest, and we can't wait to see you in person!
